A postcard from the British Virgin Islands (+a wonderful recipe)!



The British Virgin Islands is a British overseas territory located in the Caribbean in North America. The country consists of 4 main islands and about 50 small islands and cays. The capital is Road Town. The population is about 21,730. Official language – English. Nature is considered to be virgin, as the islands have not changed under the hand of man. Wonderful hills of ancient volcanoes, picturesque bays and coves attract many tourists, though earlier these places were used only as a shelter for pirates and criminals. Besides, the British Virgin Islands are regarded as the most beautiful place in the Carribean. Local population is very tolerant to other cultures. People are very friendly, calm and unhurried in everyday life. Most people are Christian, however, a lot of people retain faith in African beliefs in world of spirits and ghosts. The British Virgin Islands are considered to be one of the most safe places in the Western Hemisphere.

A postcard from Antigua and Barbuda!








Antigua and Barbuda is a country in North America between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. It consists of the two major inhabited islands Antigua and Barbuda and a number of smaller islands. The capital is Saint John's. The population is about 86,754. Official language – English. Traditional customs and the way of life in West Indies represent the culture of Antigua and Barbuda. Music reggae is very popular, different carnivals are held often, and from English traditions, Antigua and Barbuda received cricket as a national sport. 70% of population are involved into tourism. Country is full of a huge number of quiet bays, protected from storms by coral reefs, white beaches and mountain peaks, covered with exuberant vegetation. The capital Saint John’s also attracts a lot of attention as the biggest city and the oldest port of the country.
